Updated: Oct 25, 2018

My son is on school holidays currently which means we are taking to the streets in #wanderlust! Follow our adventures on Instagram @HimaniReaders.

The Booksmith Nimmenhaemin, Chiang Mai, Thailand

So far we've come across Crocodile blood for breakfast, and have posed with way too many mascot cartoon statues. Today while hitting the town I had the notion to go inhale "new book smell." YOU KNOW what I'm talking about, don't be embarrassed for me, I am not ashamed. Some people like the new car smell-for me its books, crack that spine open and just breathe. Yes it is an aroma, nay an essence that not only transcends the Public Library I spent summers in as a child, but every Indie bookshop-hole in the wall place I've found from basements in the Village, (NYC for you out of towners) to Hipster Nimmenhaemin. It is a scent of comfort and well being for me. Total bookworm for life- and I'm owning it!

The Booksmith opened an hour later than we expected, so we had some time to play while we waited for the bookstore to open this morning. Sunshine and bright blue skies were our friend- does this mean monsoon is over? Fingers crossed!

As I was taking this picture, and the door cracked open- I was met with a wave of nostalgia and a familiar wafting fragrance, oh dear friend-its been awhile.
